don’t miss Primary Colours’ final performance in the original Bucketworks…

DAVID’S REDHAIRED DEATH
by Sherry Kramer

Marilyn and Jean are caught up in the whirlwind of an unexpected but intense relationship when Jean’s brother dies in a fire. Soon, their shared Camel filters give way to the smoke that killed Jean’s brother, their bond over their matching hair conjures images of flames, and Jean’s trail of dropped french fries may lead her away from Marilyn. DAVID’S REDHAIRED DEATH is a fairy tale exploring how people must learn to carry the weight of death by themselves and how, sometimes, people that love each other simply need to let go.

Sunday, September 10, 2006

Primary Colours Student Experimental Theatre Company will present its seventh production, TITUS ANDRONICUS (THE COMEDY), by William Shakespeare, on October 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Bucketworks, located at 1319 North Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in downtown Milwaukee. Admission is $7.00; tickets are sold at the door only.

Continuing with PCT’s tradition of completely student-run productions, UWM freshman Grace DeWolff is directing TITUS ANDRONICUS. Although the play is normally classified as a tragedy, DeWolff has staged it as a comic bloodbath, heavily influenced by Thomas Kyd in Shakespeare’s day and Quentin Tarantino in ours.

“Shakespeare never wrote any stage directions down, so we can only guess what kind of stuff actually happened on stage,” said DeWolff. “My guess is that he made everyone completely horrified one moment, and roll with laughter the next. It’s what makes the comedy funnier and the tragedy more tragic.”
